Vice President of Print Operations

Our client is seeking a Vice President of Print Operations to join their team. As the Vice President of Print Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the printing operations within the organization. This includes strategic planning, operations efficiency, quality control, budget management, and leadership of the printing team. The role requires a strong understanding of printing technologies and industry trends and the ability to drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the printing process.  

Key Results Area 

Strategic Planning 

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the printing operations aligned with the overall business objectives 

  •  Identify opportunities for growth, efficiency improvements, and technological advancements in the printing industry 

Operational Management 

  • Oversee day-to-day printing operations, ensuring timely and high-quality production 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate workflow and meet production schedules 

  • Implement LEAN and optimize processes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs 

Quality Control 

  • Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure the delivery of top-notch printed materials 

  • Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to meet or exceed industry standards 

Technology and Innovation 

  • Stay abreast of emerging printing technologies and industry trends 

  • Evaluate and recommend new printing equipment, software, and methodologies to enhance capabilities and competitiveness 

Team Leadership 

  • Provide strong leadership to the printing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability 

  • Recruit, train, and develop staff to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce 

Financial Management 

  • Develop and manage the printing operations budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation 

  • Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to achieve cost savings without compromising quality 

Customer Relations 

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand customer needs and deliver printing solutions that meet or exceed operations 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty 

Compliance and Safety 

  • Ensure printing operations comply with all relevant regulations and safety standards 

  • Implement and oversee safety protocols to create a secure working environment 

Reporting and Analysis 

  • Generate regular reports on key performance indicators and operational metrics 

  • Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth 

All other duties as assigned 

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Printing Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred 

  • Ten (10) plus years of print operation management, order management, or other related experience 

  • Ten (10) years of team leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing or print environment 

  • Strong understanding of various printing technologies, production processes, and packaging solutions 

  • Experience working in or leading gift card manufacturing operations, specifically secure pack 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Visio 

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans 

  • Able to solve problems while collaborating with internal and external partners 

  • Financial acumen and experience managing budgets 

  • Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in the printing industry 

  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment 

  • Prior experience working with Monarch ERP or a similar system is preferred 

  • LEAN/Six-Sigma Certified with demonstrated ability to apply LEAN manufacturing principles to improve operations 

  • Experience expanding paper and plastic card manufacturing 

  • Punch, collation, lamination, and specialized packaging 

  • Experience in the card industry, card personalization, Affixing Services 

  • Technical knowledge of offset printing and packaging, techniques, equipment, and processes 

  • A relocation package is being considered; the role is based in Midland, TX
